This year Diwali has even more significance as Shani Amavasya which is a day before the major transit of Planet Saturn also falls on the same day, ie 17th October 2009. Thus Diwali night is also going to be the darkest day of the month. Shani Amavasya is the best day for worshipping Pithru Devathas. This is also a good day to conduct Pujas for those suffering from Kaala Sarpa Yoga,, Dhaiyya and Saade Saati. This Diwali Night is also an auspicious day to worship the Wealth giving Goddess Maha Lakshmi. Chanting of Maha Lakshmi Mantras on the night of Deepawali brings prosperity throughout the year. However, let us use this day to please Shanidev who is the incarnation of Lord Vishnu and the Lord of this modern age of Technology before Lakshmi Pujan to get his blessings too.
